Kolegio San Dominico carried out an art activity to help students explore the theme of peace in a creative and meaningful way. The activity was implemented during art lessons and class discussions. All classes worked together on one common art project so that students could feel unity and shared responsibility.

The central artwork is an old, dry tree we named “Huntu nos ta hasi PAS” (Together we make peace). The tree symbolizes a world that needs care, hope, and peace. In the branches of the tree, students hung handmade craft doves, peace signs, and written statements from each classroom. Each class discussed what peace means to them, and together they created short messages such as peace at school, peace at home, peace among friends, and peace in the world.

Students explored peace through artistic expression by drawing, coloring, cutting, writing, and assembling the decorations. This activity combined art, language, and social learning. Students used their hands to create, while also sharing ideas and listening to others. Teachers guided discussions to help students understand peace as kindness, respect, cooperation, and care for others.

This project supported creativity, empathy, and cultural awareness. Students learned that peace can be shown in many ways and that everyone’s voice matters. By working together on one tree, they experienced how small actions can grow into a strong message of peace.
